Hard Water Feed 30 of 30 open

There are 30 territories, across 8 states.

Not a limit we set — that is how many service areas have enough new domestic wells in hard water to fill a weekly list. Every map below is drawn from the wells themselves and every count is measured from that state’s own well records. You can check it.

Territory
The counties within 75 miles of its anchor — roughly how far a dealer will drive.
Qualified/yr
New domestic wells in water hard enough to sell into, measured from that state’s own filings over the last year. A * means the state does not confirm every one of these as new rather than a replacement — see the footnote below the tables.
Hardness reading
The share of delivered leads whose hardness comes from tested wells in that property’s own ~7-mile grid square rather than from the county median. Both are real measurements; this is how local they are, and it is not the same in two territories.
Price
Volume alone. A large territory on county-level readings costs more than a small one on property-level, which is why both numbers are here rather than one blended score.

States shown largest first: Michigan, Florida, Texas, Ohio, Minnesota, Missouri, Wisconsin, California.

Real county boundaries (US Census). Shading is qualified leads a year; unshaded counties are not in a sold territory.

* Michigan and Minnesota do not publish whether a well is new or a replacement, so a starred count may include a redrill or deepening at an existing household rather than a household that just got water for the first time. Some Florida territories are a MIX — the state publishes it for part of the territory and not the rest.

Why you get a territory and not a county

Most counties see fewer than one qualified lead a week, and filings arrive in bursts rather than evenly — drillers file their paperwork in batches — so a county averaging one a week sends nothing at all about a third of the time. Sold as single counties, most of every state is an empty inbox.

Grouped into areas a dealer can actually drive, the same volume supports the territories above. Areas under 100 printable cards a year, or where fewer than 50% of new wells can be mailed, are not drawn as territories on this map. That is the whole reason the count is what it is: the wells are not there.

What it costs

$2.50 per card mailed, the same in every territory, billed weekly for the cards mailed that week. A bigger territory mails more cards; a week with no new wells costs nothing. The weekly list, the water reports and the list of exactly who was mailed come with it.

At a typical $1,000 gross profit on an installed system, one install in every 400 cards pays for all of them.

Sold once. If it is yours, nobody else is buying it

We sell a territory once. 30 of 30 are open. If yours is taken it is taken, and if it is yours, nobody else gets the same list from us. This page is the record — it changes when a territory does.

Your territory is here and it says “Ask” instead of a price button

That is deliberate. I have paused sales everywhere while I finish measuring what each territory actually delivers week to week and set up weekly billing for the cards, because I will not take payment before I can tell you what to expect. When yours opens it is $2.50 per card mailed, the same as everywhere else, and it is not negotiated.

Each row’s Status shows how many of the eight measured weeks are in and the earliest week that territory could start. It is the earliest, not a promise: a week that delivers nothing, or a state that stops publishing, holds the territory until the measurement is clean again.

So: tell me which territory and what an install is worth to you, and I will tell you the moment it opens, with the measured weekly range beside it.

Your area is not on this page

That is the likely outcome, and it is worth being straight about it. There are 30 of these and the country has rather more than 30 service areas. A territory only appears here once its state has been pulled, joined to groundwater chemistry and measured — and only if it clears the floor: 100 printable cards a year, with at least 50% of its new wells mailable.

What is not a reason: your state being difficult. The method is the same everywhere and it is published at /methodology.html — public well filings, joined to public water-quality measurements. What decides it is whether your state publishes its filings in a form worth pulling, and how much new drilling happens near you.

Tell me where you work and I will tell you the honest answer — whether it is buildable, roughly what it would carry, and whether it clears the floor. If it does not, I will say so rather than sell you a thin list.

Counts come from each state’s own well records — Texas’s Submitted Driller’s Reports, Michigan’s Wellogic, Wisconsin’s Groundwater Retrieval Network, Minnesota’s Well Index and Florida’s water-management-district permit files — narrowed to newly completed domestic wells in groundwater at or above the softener threshold. Hardness comes from the Texas Water Development Board’s Groundwater Database in Texas and from the national Water Quality Portal (USGS and EPA) elsewhere. Landlord-owned (rental) properties are excluded only where a state publishes an owner mailing address — Texas, Minnesota and Lee County, Florida. Elsewhere they are still in the count, so those figures are an upper bound. Method: /methodology.html. Total across all territories: 32,075 qualified leads a year.
